Shopper QuestionsQ. Are children allowed on opening day? A. We do not restrict children on the opening day, March 1, although it is very crowded and not recommended, and the lines to checkout can be very long.
Q. How often do you have these sales? A. Our Spring/Summer sales are typically in March/April and our Fall/Winter sales are in August/September of each year.
Q. Are the sales located indoors? A. Yes. Sales are located in air-conditioned/heated buildings.
Q. Are there any parking fees or entrance fees? A. No parking fees. We charge an admission of $3 for the first day we are open to the public only. However, in the month of the sale or the previous month, you can often find coupons for free entrance in the issues of the following magazines: Kids Directory and Tulsa Kids Magazine. Children 18 and under are always free. You may also gain free admittance by bringing an item to donate to Emergency Infant services (formula, diapers, baby food, new layette items).
Q. What kinds of payment do you accept? A. We accept Cash, Checks, Mastercard, Visa and Discover with proper ID.
Consignor QuestionsQ. Who can consign their items and become a seller? A. Anyone can consign their children's and maternity items with Just Between Friends. We require that you have a minimum of 20 items or $100 worth of items. We are limiting the amount of consignors for our Tulsa event, so sign up early.
Q. Do consignors get to shop before the public? What about Guests? A. Yes, consignors will shop on Saturday, February 28th at 1:00pm. Your guests may shop at 3:00pm on the same day. Both must have presale passes that you will pick up when you drop off your items. Children 12 years old or older may be considered a consignors guest with a presale pass. We are open until 9:00pm Saturday evening, therefore, if you are a consignor and want to wait to shop with your guest at 3:00pm, you are more than welcome to do that.
Q. Are children allowed at the presale? A. Children under 12 years old are not allowed at presales. However, we have made a special time slot for consignors who need to bring their children. Consignors can shop with their children at 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 28th. It will be very crowded, therefore children must stay with the parent at all times. Nursing infants are allowed any time. Children 12 years old or older may be considered a consignor's guest with a presale pass and enter at 3:00pm.
Q. Are nursing infants excluded from the "No Children at Presales" rule? A. Nursing infants (non-walking) are allowed at presales. (although strollers are not allowed until 6:00pm on the presale day) We still strongly urge you to find someone to watch your precious child as your shopping experience will greatly improve without the added responsibility.
Q. What percentage of the sales do I receive? A. Consignors receive 65% of their sales less a $10 consignor fee (deducted from your check). Volunteers earn 70%. We do have some special incentives and ways to earn up to 75%. Check out our "sales incentives" page. Q. Who does the pricing? A. You set your own price and you get to decide if it is discounted on our fourth-off and half-price days. Check out our "Merchandise Prep" page for pricing guidelines.
Q. What percentage of my items can I expect to sell? A. Most sellers sell approximately 80% of their items in sizes 2-10. For sizes under 24 months the percentage of sales drops due to the sheer volume of merchandise brought in by consignor's to sell, and the fact that, people tend to receive infant clothing as gifts, hand me downs etc , therefore they do not have a need to buy these items. The older sizes (12-16 and up) also will sell a lower percentage as children become pickier as they near the teen and pre-teen years. Q. How do I sign up to consign? A. Just click on our "Online Signup" button and fill out the form. You will receive an email confirmation with in moments.
Q. Can I hand-write my tags? A. Unfortunately our Tulsa JBF will no longer be able to accomodate consignors with hand-written tags. With our online bar-coding system (www.myjbftags.com) it is so easy to enter your tags and print them off, then be able to track your sales. We have moved to a Point of Sale system and need all consignors to be using the scannable tags.
Q. How long should I give myself to drop off my items? A. We have self check-in and it typically takes about an hour to drop off your items. Your items will be inspected and then you place them in the designated areas around the sales floor. It is helpful to bring a wagon to drop off your items. The first day of drop off in the morning is the most crowded. Lines will be longer, therefore, the wait will be longer. Best time of day to drop off is around the time when moms are picking up kids from school.
Q. When and where do I drop off my items? A. If you have more than 300 clothing items, you can make an appointment to drop off your items on Wednesday, February 25th from 3:00-8:00pm. Please email Kelli@jbfsale.com to find a time slot. If you do not have 300 clothing items, drop off is on Thursday, February 26th from 12:00 noon-9:00 pm and again on Friday, February 27th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. No drop offs will take place after 2:00 pm on Friday.
Q. Are there more drop off times? New: Second drop off on Sunday, March 1 A. Pre-registered consignors who miss the first two drop off days may take advantage of our second drop off on Sunday evening, March 1 from 7:30-9:00 pm. This is also for people like me that find other things that they want to consign after the sale has begun.
Q. When do I pick up my unsold items? A. Unsold items are to be picked up on Sunday, March 8th from 5:00-8:00pm. All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated to Emergency Infant Services and Catholic Charities. Q. What if I work and can't make the pick up time work for my schedule? A. You are welcome to have a friend pick up your items for you. You will need to send a note or let us know via email that someone else will be picking up your items. Be sure to write it on your waiver. Any items not picked up will be automatically be donated to Emergency Infant Services and Catholic Charities.
Q. Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold clothing items? A. No, when you pick up your unsold items, your hanging garments will already be sorted by Consignor# for easy pickup. As time and volunteer sign-ups allow, we hope to have all of the other items sorted, too, otherwise, it will be up to you to visit our posted areas to find items other than clothing.
Q. How long does it take to receive my check? A. Your check will be mailed to you within fourteen days of the end of the sale. (if not sooner!)
Q. Will I know what items have sold? A. By using our online tagging system to prepare your tags it will give you a close idea of what has sold, when and for how much. Online tagging is quick and easy!
Q. Where do I find safety pins and child sized hangers?
A.Unfortunately, Walmart has discontinued the Mainstays brand of hangers that we have used in the past. A few of our volunteers have agreed to sell the child-sized wire hangers for your convenience. Click here for hanger suppliers. Safety pins are easily ordered through any dry cleaners. Dollar Deals usually carries safety pins as well.
Q. I have looked everywhere and can't find child-sized wire hanger...what do you want me to do? A. Hopefully with our volunteer suppliers listed in the hanger information page, we will not run out, but...in the case that they do, use what you have. As a rule, hangers are hard to come by in the two weeks preceding the Tulsa event. So, next time, stock up early. For now, use what you have. Please still try to put the size 4 and under on child sized hangers and the size 5 and above can go on the larger hangers.
Q. If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale? A. No. Consignors drop off their items and put them out on the selling floor during the designated drop-off times and come back during the designated times to pick up their unsold items. If you are able to volunteer and help out at the sale you can earn an extra 5% on your sold items.
Q. What items are you taking? A. We accept anything related to babies, children or maternity. The clothing must be current season. For our Spring sales, we will be accepting only Spring/Summer clothing. Save your Fall/Winter items for our August 2009 sale. Other great items are toys, books, videos, strollers, baby equipment, nursery items, large play equipment, bedding, cribs, changing tables, etc. Go to this site http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html to see if any of the items that you are bringing to sell have been recalled. Be a responsible seller! You will be shocked to see the large list of recalled children's items.
Q. For the Spring/Summer sale, can I bring long-sleeved shirts? A. We would like for you to save these items for our Fall/Winter sale. We may accept light colored long-sleeved shirts if they are "spring-like" and if we have space, but please, no fall-looking clothing.
Q. What about shoes? A. Yes, Dress shoes and Like-new shoes only. Please bring only your best shoes. Shoes will be inspected separately and we are VERY PICKY. You are not limited to a certain amount of shoes per consignor as in previous sales, but we will be Picky. These items are easily worn out and will not sell if they are worn. Please don't spend your time tagging shoes that look worn or are smelly. Check out our Shoe Guidelines web page.
Q. What about stuffed animals? A. We only accept name brand or battery operated stuffed animals (lights, sound, movement), or Disney or Beanie Babies in new or like new condition. We have seen a decrease in the sale of stuffed animals, and so we must limit them.
Q. What is Mommy Mart? A. Mommy Mart is a way for you to sell your wooden, everyday furniture, that a starting young family could use. Check out our Merchandise Prep page to see what all we accept in Mommy Mart. No antiques, home decor, mirrors, glass tables, or nick nacks, please.
Volunteer QuestionsQ. Can anyone sign up as a volunteer and attend the volunteer presales? A. Yes, anyone may sign up to volunteer on a first come/first serve basis. You do not have to be a consignor to volunteer. The Volunteer schedule will be available to view on January 1st. Sign-ups for 24 hour volunteer staff positions (all returning and 5 new openings only) will be accepted starting on January 1st and sign-ups for 12, 7, or 5 hour volunteer postions will begin on January 1.
Q. Can I bring a guest to the volunteer presale? A. Volunteers may not bring guests unless the guest completes their applicable volunteer times. Each pre-sale pass is good for one person to enter the presale. Please no children at our presales. A special time slot on February 28th at 6:00 pm, has been set aside for volunteers/consignors who must bring their children. Children 12 years old or older may attend with consignors as their guest with appropriate presale pass.
Q. How long are the shifts? A. 12, 7 or 5 Hours. Check out the available times on our volunteer page. Volunteer times are posted on January 1st.
Q. Do you provide childcare for volunteers? A. We apologize, but we do not offer childcare at this time. Q. I'm pregnant or have a medical condition. Is it OK for me to be a volunteer? A. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, you will want to volunteer when the workload is less. We have several shifts available with jobs that can be done sitting down. If you need these positions, please email us with your request after registering and we will try to accommodate your request.
Volunteer/Consignor/First Time Mom Presale QuestionsQ. Who is allowed to shop at the presale? A. Volunteers shop first on Saturday, February 28th. Consignors shop at 1:00pm (Sorry, no guests at 1:00pm). Every consignor will receive a guest pass in order to bring along someone to shop with them at 3:00 pm on Saturday! First time mom's will also be able to bring one guest with them to their presale at 7:00 pm on Saturday. Q. Can I bring my child/children to the presale? A. No, it is very crowded, and the lines to checkout can be very long. We also want this time to be as stress free to our volunteers, consignors and first time moms as possible. Nursing infants (non-walking) are allowed.
Q. I am a First Time Mom, do I need to bring anything to gain entrance into the sale? A. No, you just need to bring yourself and a friend/relative if you prefer. First Time moms who pre-registered by Friday, February 27th, will be allowed to shop at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 28th. Sorry, only nursing infants at this presale. We will have your name at the door for your entrance to the sale. Happy shopping!
Q. Can I bring a stroller/wagon to the presale? A. No, Strollers and Wagons are not allowed during the Volunteer/Consignor presale times before 6:00pm on February 28th.
A. Yes, after 6:00pm on the Presale day. You will need to keep it from blocking the isles. Strollers/wagons are allowed during the "Consignor Shop with Kids, Doodlebug and First Time Mom's Presales" only. Due to the number of people shopping at our sale, it may be easier to bring a laundry basket with a rope or belt attached to pull your "bargains" behind you. We will also have several shopping bags for shoppers to use while they shop. We also request that you choose to use our Hold Area.
